Kim Carlton Blouin, 48, of Springvale, died February 9 in Portland following surgery.She was born on October 12, 1956 in Sanford, the daughter of Ford and Patricia (Allen) Carlton. She attended Sanford schools and graduated with the Sanford High School class of 1974. She earned a degree in social work from the University of Maine in 1979.She married Marcel Blouin on June 2, 1979.After working in education for many years, Kim returned to school and earned her master's degree in social work from the University of New England in Biddeford in 1992.After graduating, she worked for Counseling Services Inc. and for Sweetser Services, mainly in public schools. At the time of her death, she was employed as a Sweetser social worker at Sanford High School, where she was a devoted and gentle source of guidance for dozens of students. Kim, a licensed clinical social worker, was widely known and appreciated in her community for her wisdom, her intelligence, her wit and her exceptional ability to listen to and help those in need. She had a wide circle of friends and family who will dearly miss her.She was described by a member of the Sanford High School faculty as an integral part of the school, having worked as a school based clinician and Sweetser program manager within the Sanford school system for several years. She was a member of the Sanford Unitarian-Universalist Church, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority. She was predeceased by an infant son, Aaron, and by her parents.She is survived by her husband, a son Jarrod, a daughter Katherine all of Springvale, by 3 cousins, Karen Blaisdell of Springvale, Steve Carlton of Boston, MA, Beth Carlton of New York, NY, and aunt, an uncle, and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held from 6-9 PM on Friday at the Lafrance-Lambert and Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at the Curtis Lake Christian Church, with the Rev.
