SOUTH PORTLAND - Kevin 'Nipsey' E. Russell, 61, of South Portland, Maine, passed away on Tuesday, January 15th, 2013. He was born in Chelsea MA., August 12, 1951, a son of William and Reta Scahill Russell and brother of William and Brian. Kevin grew up in South Portland and was a graduate of South Portland High School. Kevin was a veteran of the United States Army and had great pride in having part in the armed forces. Kevin worked for Deering Ice Cream Company for over 10 years and was last employed with Shaw's Supermarket. Kevin loved to travel, was a huge follower of the Boston Celtics and was a very loving soul to his friends and family. Kevin is survived by his loving wife Joyce Lee Russell of 10 half years. She was his friend for over 40 years; his step son Dustin Ryan Litchfield, both of whom he loved very much and treated with great kindness and compassion; two brothers, William E. Russell and his wife Mary, Brian J. Russell, and two nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Kevin's close friends and family on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 at 11am at Holy Cross Church, corner of Broadway and Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial with military rites will be held in Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. For those attending Kevin's services, the family asks for no formal clothes, just the way Kevin wanted it; casual clothes and a loving environment.   1. I knew Kevin from Holy Cross and later South Portland High. He was a great and unique person. He was very kind and loved his Boston Milk Shakes from Red’s. He will be missed for sure. God bless his soul.

The last time I saw Kevin was 10 years ago.He was an old and great friend and we shared many memories together.We had a bond because we shared many of the up’s and down’s of life together,and I always thought of Kevin as a special friend who knew the old stories and cherished them as much as I did.I loved Kevin,and the news of his death came as a terrible shock…My sincere condolences to all who knew and loved Kevin(Nipsey)Russell.He will never be forgotten by me or my children.He will be sorely missed…
