Kenneth Charles Smith

kenneth smith
Kenneth Charles Smith died suddenly on August 19, 2024 at his home in Acton, Maine at the age of 63. Ken was born to Arlene and Stan Smith on April 10, 1961 in Sanford, Maine. He lived his whole life at the farm and loved the apple orchard from the blossoms to the picking. It was the place that brought him joy and deep satisfaction from his hard work. Ken was well known for his hard work and expertise in operating large excavating equipment. He could be seen driving on a bulldozer with his uncle at 10 years old and that love never changed. He and his family created the Apple Valley Campground across the street from where he lived his whole life. He operated it for over 38 years and was loved by generations of campers. Kenny’s love of music was an important part of who he was. He was a gifted musician on both the keyboard and drums and had a voice often compared to Kenny Rogers and Billy Joel. He was often seen with a Dunkin Donuts cup in his hand listening toToTo. He is survived by his wife, Marianne Doyle Smith, mother Arlene Smith, sister Deb Crowley and brother Stan Smith Jr., and their families. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Monday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at the Smith’s Red Apple Farm on Route 109 in Acton.

  1. Ken & Marian operates the campground like a well oiled machine and treated their guest with the same kindness & respect like family… ❤️

  2. Kenny was so patient and kind with me when I open my first camper at the campground. He would always stop and check in and I always had a lot of questions and he always reassured me. Easy to talk to you always felt calm and safe in his presence. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. I know where Kenny is right now, among all the other saints in heaven. Till we meet again my friend.

  3. Words cannot describe the empty place Kenny has left. All I can say I pray that God will be able to give solace and peace to Marianne, Mima and his family.

  26. Despite Kenny’s continuous heavy workload he always took time to appreciate the important things in life and share them with others. One of the others was Brady my cat whoKenny always got a kick out of while he was hunting by the pond.

He hollered back yes and we had to search foreach other since there was so much stuff in the hut. When I found him he answered my question and then just looked at me and said I’ll be dipped-I can’t remember what Came in here looking for. That was Kenny-always real…
