Kenneth Libby

Limerick, MaineKenneth Libby, 82, of Limerick, Maine, died August 22, 2002 at The Maine Veterans Homes in Scarborough, Maine.He was born in Limerick on April 1, 1920 the son of Asa and Mary (Atkinson) Libby and attended schools there.He served in The United States Army During WWII in The European Theatre, where he was wounded in Italy, receiving a Purple Heart for his service.Mr. Libby worked most of his life as a self employed contractor and Excavator. He also worked as the road commissioner for the Town of Limerick for many years.Mr. Libby and his wife Virginia used to winter in Zephyr Hills Florida for many years.He was a member of The South Waterboro Bible Chapel, White Tibbetts Post # 55 of The American Legion, Life Membership in the John Libby Family Assoc., and Libby Homestead Corp., a member of The Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veteran and a Charter Member of The Limerick Historical Society. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Limerick; son Robert T. Libby, SR., of Limerick; brothers Herbert Libby of Hiram, ME., Oscar W. Libby of Limington, ME., Donald A. Libby of Limington, ME., Ivory Libby of North Waterboro, ME., sisters Gladys M. Witham of Pittsfield, NH., Doris L. Smith of Newport, NH., a grandson Robert T. Libby, JR., of Limerick, also survived by many nieces and nephews.Mr. Libby was predeceased by a brother Oliver.Relatives and friends may call from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Saturday at Heald Funeral Home 26 Sokokis Trail North, Limerick, Maine where a funeral will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday.
