Kenneth J. Allen, 65, of Puffin Way in Alfred, died suddenly at Southern Maine Medical Center on Thursday, April 8, 2004.He was born in Sanford, August 23, 1938 a son of Kenneth M. and Pauline (Walker) Allen and graduated from Sanford High School. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until being discharged in 1959. He worked for the Department of Defense as a sheet metal foreman. From 1973, Kenneth made Washington State his home. Mr. Allen retired from the Trident Refit Facility in Bangor, Washington and moved back to Maine in 1999.Mr. Allen loved classic cars and woodworking. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States several times and Mexico. He was a homebody who liked cooking, working in his gardens and puttering around the house. Mr. Allen was well known and a loyal customer to the Cock Pit Cafe at the Sanford Airport. Kenneth was an avid Rummy Cube Player- beating Carolyn, Beth and David. A favorite saying when playing the game was,"Have to win the first time to win them all." Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Martha (Lippert) Allen of Alfred; his son, William K. Allen of Seattle, Washington; two brothers, James Allen of San Carlos, California and Richard and his wife, Janet Allen of Alfred. A sister, Judy and her husband, Danny Allard of Sanford; Cousins: Tim and Cathy Baker of Rangley, ME; Cherry Baker and Mark Arsenault of Saco; andTy and Roxanne Baker of Acton, ME. A Celebration of Kenneth's Life will be held Saturday, April 10, 2004 at his home at 51 Puffin Way, Alfred from 1 - 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., 1 Main Street,- Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086 or to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, S.
