Kathy Karpeles

kathy karpeles
Kathy Karpeles died at the age of 72. She succumbed to the deadly disease of cancer. She fought until it took her frail body. She was born on September 24, 1949 to Frank and Mickey (Schwartz) Karpeles in New York City. She went off to college and eventually earned her PhD. She worked as a counselor at the University of Southern Maine in Portland until she opened her own practice in Portland where she practiced for over 20 years. Kathy was a great psychologist, intelligent, caring, and compassionate lady. While working with many clients she had empathy, powerful insight and understanding. She set her personal insight to include getting her PhD. She also worked with several organizations. Her favorite times included playing billiards like 8 ball and 9 ball. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed sitting at their campsite reading or by the campfire in the evening. During this time, she enjoyed lengthy intellectual conversation. In many ways she was a very calm and personal person. She is survived by her beloved partner of 27 years, Rose Ann (Dolly) Thibodeau, sister Laurie Lampert, a brother Eric Karpeles a stepfather David Bauer, a niece Faith, nephew Scott, auth Helen and other family members. She will be very missed by those who loved her dearly. May You Rest in Peace My Love ~Dolly Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
