Kathleen "Kay" M. Wallace, 89, of Holly Hill, Florida and Sanford, Maine died Tuesday morning, Sept 30, 2003 at Goodall Hospital.She was born July 8, 1914 in Hudderfield, England. She was raised and educated in Limerick, graduating as Valedictorian of the Class of 1932. She attended the School of Nursing affiliated with Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was a dedicated nurse with employment at Goodall Hospital and for 27 years was employed with Dr. Ross & Dr.Cobb in Sanford. In 1960, She moved to Florida and continued in the health care field working as the Plant Nurse with Florida Production and retired from Dr. Friedman's Dermatology practice of Florida. Kay was a tireless volunteer for the over 20 years with the American Cancer Society and the American Red Cross in Daytona Beach, Fl. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Holly Hill, Fl as well as a choir member. She helped at their church bazaars and many suppers to help with fund raising events for the church. Starting in 1970, she and her first husband, Walter C. Chase, Sr. enjoyed traveling back and forth from Maine to Florida. They shared 55 years together before his death in 1990.Kay took an Alaskan Cruise with a dear friend from Maine and traveled out to California to visit with family and friends. She was a strong and independent woman.She is survived by her children: Two sons: Walter Chase of Monmouth, ME and Charles Chase of San Francisco, CA and her daughter, Joann Hall of Holly Hill, Florida. Also, 12 grandchildren and 28 great -grandchildren and 5 great, great, grandchildren. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
