Kathleen M. Dunn
1932-2022
PORTLAND--Kathleen M. Dunn, 89 of Westbrook, died Monday January 31, 2022 in Portland.
She was born in Portland May 3, 1932 the daughter of Frank J. D'Amico and Frances (Haggert) Walton.
Kathleen graduated from Portland High with the class of 1950, where she was a dedicated member of the majorette squad. It was at this time she held a position at Woolworths' for her finger painting skills, although none of her art was ever sold. From high school she fell in love and married Ellis Dunn. Being divorced after many years, they continued to be the best of friends throughout their lives.
Kathleen loved the music, to dance, and the company of good friends, which were in no short supply. There was always an extra spot in Katie's Kitchen for whoever popped in! She spent much of her life in Maine, and very much enjoyed the tides in Casco Bay along with the mountains of Rangeley. She lived alone until she left us; as Frank Sinatra sang 'I did it my way'. She did and will be greatly missed by many. Rest in Peace Mom
Ms. Dunn was predeceased by her brothers, Frank and Mike D'Amico and her granddaughter Sarah K. Vandegraaf.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Colleen Vandegraaf and Kathleen Eaton; her grandchildren, Carley Toderico and Teunis Vandegraaf and her great-grandchildren. Reece Vandegraaf Green, Chloie Vandegraaf and Carter Alvarado.

We are so deeply sorry for your loss, Colleen and Kathy. Katie and our mother, Joan (Masalin) Ratliff, were majorettes together at Portland High School, where they became life-long friends. Mom loved getting together with Katie, and especially loved going to high school reunions together to catch up with old friends. Katie was a dear friend to Mom, and Mom spoke about her often. When they were no longer able to get together in person, they spoke on the phone almost daily. Mom relished those calls. Mom would often say that she and Katie were born on the same day, May 3, 1932. It is poetic that they passed away 8 days apart. I imagine them laughing, marching, and twirling their batons together in heaven now. With Love and Deepest Condolences, Wanda Ratliff for Joan Ratliff’s Family
