Judith “Judy” Whiting

Judith “Judy” Whiting, beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and caregiver, passed away on September 6, 2026. She was 64 years old.

Judy was born on March 28, 1962, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1969, at the age of seven, she immigrated with her family to the United States, settling in Queens, New York. Her journey from Haiti to the United States was the beginning of a life characterized by determination, resilience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.

While living in Worcester, Massachusetts, Judy met her husband, Douglas Whiting. Together they built a loving family and raised two children, Sabrina Bauduy-Whiting and Tripp Whiting. During her children’s early years, Judy chose to be a stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself to raising and nurturing her family.

Judy continued her studies and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career in a doctor’s office in the Worcester area. She went on to work in hospitals and public schools, bringing her warmth, patience, and caring nature to every setting. Her final role was as a paraprofessional nurse in Dublin, Ohio, where she assisted medically fragile children as they made their way through their school days. Her work with children was a fitting expression of Judy’s natural compassion and her lifelong desire to help others.

Judy loved to travel, especially to warm, sunny beaches. She treasured the opportunity to spend time with her family and, while working for the school department, particularly enjoyed having vacation time that coincided with her children’s school breaks. The family shared many wonderful vacations together, traveling to Caribbean islands, the coasts of Mexico, the southwestern United States, and Barcelona, Spain. These trips created memories that her family will cherish for years to come.

Judy also had a wonderfully creative spirit. She enjoyed all sorts of crafts, especially crocheting and sewing, as well as gardening and caring for her many indoor plants. She loved sharing the beauty and joy of her gardens with others, often giving friends and family cuttings from her plants so that something she had nurtured could continue to grow in someone else’s home. Her generosity extended naturally into everything she did.

Judy was exceptionally kind and warm. She made friends easily and had a special ability to make people feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for. Whether through her work, her friendships, her family life, her gardening, or the simple generosity of sharing a plant cutting, Judy brought something of herself to the people around her.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm – 4pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the new Conroy-Tully Walker, Cremation, Funeral, and Gathering Center, 300 Allen Ave. Portland, ME.
