Joseph R. Therrien

Joseph "Roland" Therrien, 84, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the home of his daughter Joyce and son in law Michael Cyr. He was born in Sanford on January 22, 1926, a son of the late, Almanzor and Odelei (Morin) Therrien. Joseph proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater, serving in England, France, Austria and Germany.Upon his return home he married the former Lucille Roux at Holy Family Church on August 9, 1949. He worked for several companies during his working career before retiring from Cyro. A devoted husband, and father, he was kind, gentle and had a wonderful sense of humor and an unwavering twinkle in his eyes, slender in build, but strong in character and faith. Joseph enjoyed and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was proud of his home and yard. Joseph had a great love for several things in life, which included his family, aviation and sweets.He is predeceased by his siblings, Pete, Ted, Fred, and Emile Therrien, and Charlotte St. Jean.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille Roux Therrien, daughters, Joyce Cyr and her husband, Michael, Gayle Martineau and her husband, Robert; grandsons, Patrick Cyr and his wife, Kristen and 2nd Lt. Anthony Martineau; and his great grandchildren, Annie and Eliza Cyr.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 24th at 11AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
