Joseph N. Poliquin, 82, of Sanford, died January 27 at Tampa General Hospital in Florida. He had been a winter resident of Zephyrhills, Florida for many years.He was born in Epping, NH on March 16, 1922, a son of Alfred and Georgianna (Lanois) Poliquin, attended Epping schools, and was a graduate of Epping High School.He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and the US Air Force in Korea.He was employed for 24 years with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.He attended St. George's Episcopal Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th degree in Sanford-Springvale.His first wife, the former Adrienne Dube, died in 1997.Survivors include his wife of 5 years, Zelda (Stone Gauthier) Poliquin of Sanford, 3 sons, Joseph M. Poliquin and his wife Martha of Lisbon Falls, James D. Poliquin and his wife Beth Ann of Cumberland, John Poliquin and his wife Anne of Yarmouth, 2 daughters, Janet Neal and her husband Allan of Gray, Jo Anne Shatsky and her husband Scott of Ginot Shomron, Israel, 2 stepsons, Thomas Gauthier and his wife Pamela of Springvale, Robert Gauthier and his wife Sara of Sanford, 2 brothers, Albert Poliquin of Morrill, James Poliquin of Raymond, NH, 2 sisters, Alma Sobozenski of Exeter, NH, Alice Mae Mailhot of Epping, NH, 16 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and a great grandson.Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Monday at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday in St. George's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. William Schuyler, Rector, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery.Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. George's Episcopal Church, 3 Emerson Street, Sanford, ME 04073.
