Joseph Latinski

October 12, 2010
Joseph W. Latinski, 69, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford following a long illness. Joseph was born in Mineola, New York on January 25, 1941 to Joseph and Florence (Leonarski) Latinski and attended local schools. He lived in New York for most of his life until moving to Maine in 1986. He was a brilliant machinist. He owned and operated his own business which he named Laura Engineering in honor of his daughter. He was ingenious at figuring out how to do and make things that other people could not do. He once made a scooter for his daughter from scratch when she was young. If you needed something done and you wanted to be sure that it was done right, then Joseph was the person to go see. Joseph always had a passion for old cars and had enjoyed working on them when he was younger. He had a quirky sense of humor and was affectionately known as the "Polish Prince of Laughter." He also had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing. Joseph was particularly fond of his daughter as well as his late mother-in-law and grandmother. He was a devoted father who pushed his daughter to work hard and succeed. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. Surviving are his daughter, Laura Latinski of Sanford, his wife, Joan Latinski of Kennebunk and his brother, Richard Latinski of Long Island, New York. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 23rd at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
