Joseph A.E. Boutin

Joseph "Joe" A.E. Boutin, 77, died February 20, 2004 after lingering illnesses. He was born March 2, 1926 in Sanford, a son of Joseph J. and Marie (Vezina) Boutin. He attended local schools and took courses at the University of Maryland Overseas, Tokyo, Japan; Mt. Clemens Community College, Michigan and Boston University while in the military service and stationed in the respected locales. During WW II, Mr. Boutin served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during which time he sailed to European Ports on twelve different occasions on ships carrying troops, tanks, artillery, munitions and other vital supplies essential to the war effort. After the war, Mr. Boutin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving 20 years, retiring in 1968. While in the Air Force, he served as a counterintelligence agent with the Office of Special Investigations. Mr. Boutin was a 3rd. Degree Lifetime Member of the Springvale Council, Knights of Columbus; a member of the American Legion Post 19, and a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars both of Sanford. He also belonged to the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Council of Retired OSI special agents.Survivors include a son, Joseph A.E. Jr., of Clearwater, Florida; and three daughters, Mrs. Vicenzo (Lisa) Giannantonio of Rochester, NY; Mrs. Rick (Denise) Nelson and Mrs. Daniel (Michelle) Davis both of Sanford. Also, a brother, John R. Boutin and three sisters: Mrs. Rene (Cecile) Genest, Mrs. Donald (Theresa) Cormier, all of Sanford and Mrs. Leo Paul (Jeannette) Legere, of Mesa, Arizona. Also, by best friend of many years, Barbara Janz of Sanford. At Mr. Boutin's request, there will be no visiting hours and services will be at the convenience of the family.
