John C. Abbott

John C. Abbott, 52, of North Berwick, died unexpectedly in Chicago, IL on April 20.He was born in Saco on December 11, 1952 a son of Percy and Ellen (Noyce) Abbott. He attended Waterboro and Sanford schools, and was a 1971 graduate of Massabesic High School. He was a 1975 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in civil engineering.A former resident of Sanford, he has lived in No. Berwick for the last 23 years. At the time of his death, he was employed with Advance Building Products in Sanford as its product manager. Prior to that he was employed with Wasco Products for 20 years, and with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 5 years.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing, motocycling, boating and camping.He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Berwick where he served on the parish council.He was a member of the United Bikers of Maine and the Wasco Bowling League.Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Jo Anne (Laprise) Abbott of No. Berwick, his mother of Waterboro, daughter Andrea Abbott of No. Berwick, son Timothy Abbott of Springvale, 2 brothers, George Abbott of Waterboro, Robert Abbott of Gorham, 2 sisters, Ann Abbott of Waterboro and Audrey Flood of Vernon, CT.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 1 PM in Our Lady of Peace Church in Berwick. Family flowers only please.
