Joan A. Roberts

Joan A. (Pillsbury) Roberts, 78, of Springvale, passed away on June 5, 2008, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.Joan was born on September 11, 1929 in Springvale, the daughter of J. Arthur and Miriam (Moulton) Pillsbury. She was a graduate of Sanford High School in 1947.She married Arvid H. Roberts on June 14, 1957. She worked at the Sanford Loan and Building until her second child was born in 1961. She was involved in the SERECO Club at Springvale First Baptist Church and could be found in the kitchen at the SERECO food booth at the Acton Fair for many years. She was a member of Mousam Lake Grange for 59 years, currently serving as secretary. She was also a member of York Pomona, Maine State Grange and National Grange. She was a deputy for the Maine State Grange for many years. She belonged to the Ruhamah Rebekah Lodge in Sanford for 58 years. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Lodge and was currently serving as treasurer.She is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Arvid, of Springvale; two sons, Fred and Bruce and his wife Rose, and a daughter, Donna Goodrich and her husband Alan all of Springvale; her grandchildren, Amanda Roberts of England, Jeffrey Roberts, Gregory Goodrich and Tyler Goodrich, all of Springvale; a great-grandson, Christopher, of England; and a sister, Nancy Lyons, of Hanover, Maine.Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 9th from 6 - 8 pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will held at the funeral home, Tuesday at 1pm with Rev. Elizabeth A. Keating officiating.
