Jessie Hill

Jessie Hill, 100, of Gray, Me died Saturday evening October 26, 2002.Mrs. Hill was born on May 25, 1902 in Scotland. She was the daughter of Murdo and Agnes Hossack MacGregor. She immigrated to the U.S. on August 1, 1923, and was married 7 days later.For many years Mrs. Hill worked at the Corner Shop in Springvale, and Hooz's Clothing in Sanford. She spent most of her life in the Sanford/Springvale area where she was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church, and the Ruth chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.Mrs. Hill enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, and counted crosstich. Family was very important to Mrs. Hill; she spent several years caring for the ill and elderly members of her family.Predeceasing her is her husband Hugh, and a grandson John.Surviving is a daughter Agnes Stansfield of Gray, a brother George MacGregor of England, a sister Helen MacDonald of Scotland, 4 grandchildren, Shelia Giancola of New Gloucester, David Krause of Keysville, NY, William Stansfield of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, and Robert Stansfield of Gray. Also surviving are 6 great-grandchildren.A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday October 30 from 6 to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale; where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday.
