Jerry, we will miss you and love you so much. You meant the world to me and the family. It wont be the same without you. You have been in my life for so many years and when my kids were born you were always around and wanting to see them. Always telling me how big they have gotten and how handsome and pretty they were. Last words I heard from you were those. Ill cherish them. I will always think of you when I see a butterfly because I remember you always saying when a butterfly was around that it was someone from heaven around. R.i.p. Jerry youll be remembered forever and watch over us and my Gram Rose always. She misses you a lot.

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of our dear friend Jerry. Jerry loved my mother like his own as she loved him as her own. He never stopped talking about how much he loved “Mumzy” and how he had never meant anyone like her. Jerry gave us some wonderful memories and could make us laugh so hard just from his laugh alone. One day he was at my house with his friend, my brother Bill, and we were playing a game. My husband is a very quiet man. He was working from home in his den. So there was a question and it was for Bill and it said, what was the color of your first car? My husband happened to come out of his den at that moment and heard the question and he said Bondo. We started laughing! Jerry couldn’t stop. He was rolling around on our couch. In between breaths he would say Bondo and laugh harder. Then, good one Eddie, Bondo, laughing more! We couldn’t stop. Til this day whenever we say something about the color of a car we say Bondo! Oh that is such a good memory! Jerry laughing and saying, only Eddie would think of that! He could not stop laughing. Holding his stomach and I had a big sectional couch and he was rolling all over it! It was hysterical! Thank you Jerry for all the good times. Thank you for loving my mother as your mother and coming to see her in the hospital and at home before she passed away. And most of all thank you ever so much for being the best friend my brother Bill could and did ever have. We will love you always and we are so blessed with the memories you gave us! Now your with “Mumzy”. Rest In Peace and laugh with the angels. We will all miss you.
Jerry, I was going to save this and post in on your birthday, but…..I cannot wait.
Somewhere around 1975/76, Jerry came into our lives (along with his dog, Jermiah, yes that is how he spelled it). Jerry and my mom started dating and the first thing that stood out about Jerry is that the man loved blueberries. Shortly there after, he was dubbed BooBerry. LOL. A badge that he proudly wore. Jerry was a fishing fanatic and took us for many fishing excursions on the banks of the mighty Shawsheen or Squannacook River in Townsend. He had a knack for changing lyrics to songs too. For instance, we would be fishing, his line would snap and he would start singing “you picked a fine time to leave me rooster tail, there are 2 hungry children …”
He was also a baseball and hockey fanatic not to mention he loved his guitar! I have posted before about waking up to either Jerry playing guitar or playing his 33’s Van Halen, The Cars, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Canned Heat or quite literally one of his favorite groups, The Allman Brothers.
He was very attentive when it came to sports for Billy and tried to attend most games and he did attend father-daughter dinners with me for my beloved Camp Fire. Summer nights at our house….well mostly weekend nights were always filled with gatherings for card playing, cookouts, I remember a fish feast, the Pool (his literal pride and joy) trips to the beach or day trips to nowhere. There was an impromptu campout in Nana and papa’s Minne Winnie, that I got to sleep in while my mother, Jerry and Bill slept in “Black Lassie” our old Chevy that tried to kill us on several occasions. LOL!
Everyone has that special activity that they do with a parent. Jerry and I loved to debate and loved to go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. LMAO!! Yup, that was our thing. For about 4 years, on my birthday, we would snooze all day, go to the Exeter Street Theater, freeze our hineys off and have a great time. Too bad we did not know about Bova’s then.
Jerry, AKA BooBerry was also known as “Cold Food”. A loving nickname that my grandmother gave him as he was always late for dinner. He loved to eat at Augustines in Saugus, Chinese Food, Lums (especially the Cherry Cheesecake, that he had a special name for.) and of course, Browns Lobster Pound.
Jerry had this thing of bringing animals home to my mom, especially on Valentines day. Everyone knows that nothing in this entire world screams, Honey I love you like a Tarantula. He brought home kittens, chickens, ducks, fish and the damned tarantula. One day Billy came home with a friend in tow…an Irish Setter that was alone, homeless and as we found out later, pregnant. We left her in the garage with a blanket and yes, I put a jacket on her. As we had an errand to run. Our mom told him to leave the dog alone and he flipped his cookie over another dog. I remember coming home, mind you I am 14 years old, racing to the garage and there is NO dog. I was crushed and this brought on the screaming, ranting and raving of a hormonal 14 year old on a tyrant. Now, if I had just shut my mouth, I would have realized that the dog was now upstairs, on the couch under a blanket. We called her Kim. Kimmie lived the rest of her days in the lap of luxury and was spoiled beyond belief especially by him.
Jerry and our mom married in 1980 and I have posted before, it was the best wedding ever! In 1981, our brother Tom was born and Jerry was definitely the doting dad. Well, except when he paid Billy to change a diaper. HAHAHA!
There were lots of great times and memories that this little blurb does nothing to bring forth. Jerry, if you are reading this, we love you and will miss you.
Love Tam
