Jennie L. Vachon

Jennie L. Vachon, 96 years old, of Sanford, ME died on August 24, 2005 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Vachon was born on November 27, 1908 in East Haddam, CT. She was the daughter of the late Augusta A. and Caroline L. Hall Carlson. For a short period Mrs. Vachon worked at the Bauneg Beg Nursing Home, but most of her working career was spent as a spinner at the Sanford Goodall Mills.Volunteering for the Sanford-Springvale Salvation Army was a vital part of Mrs. Vachon's life. She spent many years tolling the bells as a kettle volunteer, and serving her community. She loved to take long walks, and solve word search puzzles.Predeceasing her is her husband Zoel, two sons, Charles Carlson, and Roger Vachon, a sister Frances Calhoun, and a brother Gustaf Carlson.Surviving is a daughter Margaret Hatch of Lebanon, ME, a son Joe Vachon of Springvale, ME, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.An 11:00 AM graveside service for Mrs. Vachon will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.For those that desire, memorials may be made to the Sanford-Springvale Salvation Army, PO Box 616, Sanford, ME 04073.
