Jeanette H. Wiggin

Jeanette Helen Wiggin, 97 years old of Sanford, ME died Wednesday morning December 18, 2002 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Wiggin was born on November 19, 1905 in Brooklyn, NY; the daughter of William and Anna Wack Frey. As a young girl she moved to Lewiston, ME. She attended Thornes' Corner School and graduated from Jordan High School in 1923.Mrs. Wiggin worked for various people and places over the years. She spent 5 years at J.B. Ham as secretary to the treasurer. She worked for Herman Joy, a local stockbroker, and for 28 years at Batchelder Brothers Insurance as secretary.She was a member of the searchlight Club; where she was past president, and treasurer for 20 years. Mrs. Wiggin was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Clover Chapter; she helped found the first Brownie Scout Troop in Sanford, and was an advisor to the Beta Sigma Sorority. Mrs. Wiggin was also a member of the Sanford First Baptist Church where she served as deaconess; a member of the Goodall Hospital Auxiliary, the Bridge Club, and the Ladies Aid.In her down time Mrs. Wiggin enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and crafting.Predeceasing her is her husband Ralph in 1979, and her daughter Judith in 2001.Surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends and caregivers that were just like family to her.Everyone is invited to a period of visitation to be held on Friday December 20th from 2 to 3 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
