Jeanette Freeland

Jeannette Guertin Freeland, 84, of Saco, died on Thursday, March 19th, 2009 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford.Jeannette was born in Old Orchard on July 29, 1924 to Eugene and Julie Lacourse Guertin and attended local schools. She was employed at Woolf's Gift Shop at the entrance to the Old Orchard Beach Pier for 40 years and was popularly known as "The Pier Lady." She retired in 1990. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Donald Freeland in 2008.Surviving are two sons, Barry Freeland and his wife Linda of Saco and Richard Freeland and his wife Valerie of Deland, Florida; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.At Jeannette's request services will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Saco Food Pantry, 50 Summer St, Saco, ME 04072.Arrangements are under the direction of Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family, please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
