Jean E. Paul, 72, of Sanford, ME died early Monday morning September 23, 2002 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Paul was born on February 26, 1930 in Sanford, ME. She was the daughter of Harry and Ella Walton Burgess. She is a graduate of Sanford High School and attended Nason College in Springvale. For many years she worked at the Lincoln school in Sanford as a teachers aid. She also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for the North Parish Congregational Church.On November 25, 1950 Mrs. Paul was married to Norman Paul at the North Parish Congregational Church. Mrs. Paul was an extremely dedicated and loyal wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent many days occupying herself at the library while her husband represented southern Maine in Augusta at the House of Representatives. It was then that she began her interest in genealogy Mrs. Paul enjoyed researching family history, at the library, or on her computer. She also enjoyed knitting, tending to her flower gardens, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a member of the North Parish Congregational church, the Democratic committee, and the Sanford Historical Society.Surviving is her husband of 51 years Norman Paul of Sanford; their three sons, Gordon and Yvonne Paul of Sanford, David and Keiko Paul of Mission Viejo, CA, and Brian and Janice Paul of Shapleigh. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Kelly and Kristy Gerry, Kenneth and Stephanie Paul, Sandra and Gary Corliss, a sister Lorna E. Burgress of Springvale, and several nieces and nephews.A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday September 25th from 10 to 11 AM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME; where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev.
