Jean Lois Stiles Emery

Jean Lois Stiles Emery, 87, of 7 Howard Street, Springvale, ME, died May 20, 2003 at the Newton Center in Sanford, Maine. She was the only child of Leon and Cora Stiles of Springvale, and resided in Springvale for most of her life. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1933 as class valedictorian and received the Goodall medal for academic achievement, for several of her high school years. She was also captain of the girls basketball team. After High School she attended Nasson College. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Sidney, and five children, George of Kennebunkport, ME, Kay Emery McClaine of Oakmont, PA, Sidney Jr. of Minneapolis, MN, Jason of Niwot, CO and Eric of Hudson, NH. She was predeceased by two daughters, Lois Emery Loizos and Nancy Emery Eastman. She also leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Celtics, most especially of Ted Williams and Larry Bird. She also loved to read, so the family is requesting that any donations made in her name be sent to the Springvale Library, 443 Main Street, Springvale, ME 04083 for the purchase of books.Private graveside services will be held at the families' convenience at a later date.
