Janine Noel, 80, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the South Portland Nursing Home. She was born on March 13, 1935 in Springvale to Emile and Cecile (Blanchette) Giguere. She graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1953. On May 4, 1957, she married Gerard Noel and they were married for 47 years until his death in 2004.She was a full-time homemaker who took great pleasure and pride in creating a comfortable home. For many years, her family and friends were the grateful recipients of her beautiful handmade quilts, braided rugs and other crafts. She loved playing all kinds of card games, word games and yahtzee with the people she loved most, her family and close friends.In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her parents and five of her siblings; Irene Giguere, Doris Marcotte, Dolores Marcotte, Gerard Giguere and Norman Giguere.She is survived by her four children; Cathy Martin and her husband Matthew of Sanford; Stephen Noel and his wife Judy of Kennebunk; Karen Cheche and her husband Daniel of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Mark Noel and his fiancee Stephanie Paine of West Newfield. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Elizabeth Newport and her wife Veronica; Keith Noel and his wife Amara; Catherine Martin; Kyle Noel and his wife Sara; Rachel Cheche; Peter Martin; Matthew Noel; Ryan Noel; and Kevin Noel. In addition, she is survived by three great-grandchildren; Ayla Noel, Madison Noel and Kayden Noel. She is also survived by two sisters, Stella Fortier and Linda Guay, both of Sanford and many cousins, nieces and nephews.She will always be loved and never forgotten. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the South Portland Nursing Home, and especially the angels of Bayview who so lovingly cared for our mother over the last seven months.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
