Scarborough, Maine — Janice L. Jeffrey, 70, passed away on May 5, 2026, at her home with her family by her side.
Janice was born May 2, 1956, in Wareham, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Thomas Jr. and Barbara (Condon) Reidy. She grew up swimming the beaches and ice skating on the frozen cranberry bogs of Cape Cod, carrying with her a lifelong love of the ocean.
Janice attended Bishop Stang High School and remained close for many years with “the girls” from her neighborhood and school. After graduating, she followed her sister, Donna, to St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine, where she met the love of her life, Robbie, in an English literature class. She loved attending concerts by his band, the Broken Men (obviously pertaining to their financial status), and their connection quickly grew into a lifelong partnership. The couple settled in Portland, Maine in the late 1970s and were married in 1985, welcoming their first son, Jeremy, later that year. Their children, Jenna (born 1989) and Dylan (born 1990), followed soon after. While her children were young, Janice was a devoted homemaker, later working for L.L. Bean for nearly 20 years.
A dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, Janice could often be found beside Robbie, cheering on her teams and collecting championship memorabilia. She was her children’s proudest cheerleader, always in the stands at their games and in the crowd celebrating their educational achievements. Later in life, Janice beamed with pride as she watched her children, their partners, and her grandchildren grow and thrive.
Janice was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Reidy III. She is survived by her husband, Robbie Jeffrey; her children, Jeremy and his wife Stephanie LeBlanc Jeffrey, Jenna and her husband Kyle Barrett, and Dylan and his wife Carolina Dias Jeffrey; grandchildren Lennon and Scarlett Barrett and Jude Jeffrey; her siblings Paul Reidy and his wife Sue, and Donna Reardon and her husband John; and many beloved extended family members and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29 at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Homes of South Portland, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
