Janice (Davies) Fulmer, 56, of Sanford, Maine passed away in the early morning hours of June 11, 2005 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband was by her side. Janice was born on May 6, 1949 in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of William H. Davies and Virginia B. (Davies) Squire. She and her three brothers attended Acton Elementary and then Sanford High School, graduating in the class of 1967. In her yearbook she was noted as being "Polite and well mannered." In 1971 she graduated half a year early from Gorham State College (USM) with a teaching degree. Teaching was one of Janice's greatest loves. She worked in the Sanford School system as a second grade teacher for 33 years, starting in 1972 as a transitional first grade teacher and ending in February of this year due to the onslaught of her illness. Throughout her battle it was always her wish to return to teaching. Throughout her illness she received encouragement and support from both the Sanford educational community and the North Parish Church congregation, she wanted to thank everyone for their support for her and her family. Janice is survived by her husband, John Fulmer, her three children, Sara, Laura and Steven Fulmer for whom she loved with all her heart as well as her mother, Virginia (Davies) Squire of Kennebunk, her two brothers, Thomas Davies of Hollis, NH and Richard Davies of Hallowell, ME and their wives and a niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Jonathan Davies. She lived for her children and her family, her love, care and devotion will be greatly missed.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday June 15 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine. A funeral service will be held on Thursday , June 16 at 4pm at the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford followed by a reception.
