Jane Rosebud Stevens passed peacefully on June 25, surrounded by her children and many other family members, as she went to join her beloved husband, Carleton “Paul” Stevens.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ben (Natasha) Dunning of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Clara (Jeff) Cracknell of Springvale, Maine; Erin Dunning of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Thomas (Brittany) Scovens of Terrytown, Louisiana; Chandler Grace (Christie Graves) of Dallas, Texas; Chelsea Byrd of Beulaville, North Carolina; Adam Stevens (Hira Khan) of Kenner, Louisiana; and great-granddaughter Gabriella Patch (Oliver Kimball). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Hudson and Emerson Byrd, and Oliver and Ambrose Scovens, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Jane’s sister, Sylvia Myers of York, Maine, also survives her.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Rose Alma Shaw and James William Shaw; her grandson, David Patch; and her great-granddaughter, Miley Byrd.
Born on February 27, 1937, Jane grew up in Sanford, Maine, and attended St. Ignatius School. She met Paul at a Grange Hall dance. He pursued her, winning her heart, and they dated for 2 years before marrying in 1955. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, sharing nearly 70 wonderful years together.
Jane held a variety of jobs throughout her life, but her last and favorite was as a Logistics Coordinator for Lockheed Martin at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. She retired after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. She was deeply involved in her faith communities at St. Ignatius and later St. Thérèse of Lisieux, where she sang in the choir, belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, and devoted countless hours to volunteer service.
Family was everything to Jane. Summers with Meme and Grandpa were unforgettable. The grandchildren still speak of road trips with Doris Day playing on the radio, visits to Dorney Park, blueberry picking, pool days, and her famous homemade desserts (especially her beloved whoopie pies). She treasured family dinners, card games at the Trafton Center, karaoke nights, and, more than anything, dancing with Paul.
Jane’s greatest gift was making everyone around her feel loved, welcomed, and important. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held later this summer. Details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.
