James H. Oliver

October 7, 1951 ~ December 16, 2015
New Gloucester James Oliver, 64, of Chandler Mill Road, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home. We are devastated by the sudden loss of a great man a loving husband father and Grampy. He was the voice of reason for so many of us. He loved spending time with his grand children letting them beat him up(hulk smash)and eating popsicles with his two grandchildren. He loved watching old black and white cowboy movies and it seemed like every year he could not wait for those Hallmark christmas movies to come on. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. He was born in Portland on October 7, 1951, a son of Bernard and Jeanne (Collins) Oliver. He attended local schools including Cheverus and South Portland High Schools. He graduated from South Portland High School, class of 1971. He married Katherine Conley on November 22, 1975, at St John the Evangelist Church in South Portland. He worked as a crane operator for Bancroft Martin and a foreman at James A. McBrady Steel Construction. He is predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Buddy Oliver. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Katherine; and his children, Jessica Oliver of New Gloucester; Justin and wife Tiffany and their daughter Madelyn Oliver of Limington and Tim and wife Jennifer and their son Jackson Oliver; two brothers, Mark and wife Tracy Oliver of Scarborough and Rick and wife Connie Oliver of Raymond; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be 4:00 7:00 pm, Tuesday, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Burial will be private.
