Jack E. Rodgers

Jack E. Rodgers, 76, of Springvale died Monday, June 13, 2005 at his home. Mr. Rodgers was born in Sanford on May 2, 1929 to Hubert and Gladys Rodgers. He was educated locally and was a 1948 graduate of Sanford High School; following school he enlisted in the Air Force, serving most of his time in Hempstead, NY at Mitchell Field as a reserve records supervisor. Jack returned to Sanford in 1952. From 1953 to 1957 he attended the University of New Hampshire where he obtained a degree in economics. While he was attending college, he also worked full time at General Electric in Somersworth, New Hampshire. In 1958, Jack started working for Met Life Insurance Company where he worked as a representative for 31 years before retiring in 1989. Following retirement, Jack worked as a shoe department manager at Rich's in Biddeford and also as a clerk at the Depot in Springvale. He was a communicant of St. Georges Episcopal Church in Sanford where he served on the Bishop's committee and as a Former Senior Warden. He was also a former member of the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club.Jack was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Pierce.Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Lafrance, of Biddeford; a son, Harry Rodgers, of Springvale; a sister, Norma Allain of Sanford and 5 grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 10:00 AM.Arrangements are thru the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home
