JOHN PRESTON LeBLANC, SR.ActonJohn Preston LeBlanc, Sr., a retired professional engineer and land surveyor, died October 17 in Rowley, MA at the age of 77.He was born in Lynn, MA on December 25, 1932, the son of Hennessy J. and Doris E. (Kimball) LeBlanc. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Cheshire (CT) Academy, attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, MA.Mr. LeBlanc served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.He was a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and a registered Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts.He was employed by Universal Engineering Corp. in Boston, MA for 33 years as a civil engineer and Senior Vice President. He then worked for Ram Contracting, Inc. in Chelmsford, MA for 3 years as Vice President of Engineering and Tutela Engineering Associated, Inc. in Wilmington, MA for 3 years as chief highway engineer. After retirement, he continued as a part time consultant engineer with Tutela Engineering.He retired in 1994 and moved from Lynn, MA to Great East Lake in Acton. He loved the outdoors during all of the four season of New England, especially his favorite, the fall. He also enjoyed carpentry work and watching sporting events.Mr. LeBlanc was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Civil Engineers, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Engineers and Land Surveyors.Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jean I. (Duncan) LeBlanc of Acton, two sons, John P. LeBlanc, Jr. of Acton, Scott D. LcBlanc of Lynn, MA, four daughters, Lori J. Kieran of Peabody, MA, Cheryl A. Daley of Byfield, MA, Karen M. DeMontier of Derry NH, Suzanne P. Barnwell of Travelers Rest, SC, 16 grandchildren, four-great grandchildren and his great dane Duke.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday October 21st at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Acton. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 24th at 3:00 PM at the Byfield Parish Church, 132 Jackman Street, Georgetown, MA.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105 or the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
