Irma N. Sprague

Irma N. Sprague, 70, of Springvale, died Thursday February 28, 2008 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Irma was born in Sanford on June 12, 1937 to Walter and Hattie Littlefield Baker. She was educated in Waterboro and spent most of her life living in Waterboro and Shapleigh. In 1970, she married her late husband, Sidney Sprague.Mrs. Sprague was a very happy person with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed playing bingo, walking on the beach and cooking. She was known for the wonderful donuts and biscuits that she would make for her family and her friends. She was a very kind and loving woman who was referred to by many of the local children as either Ma Sprague or Grammy Sprague because of her caring and maternal nature. Irma learned to read late in life. She was motivated to do this by the desire to be able to sit and read stories to her grandson. Riding around in her power wheel chair was always a fun thing for Irma to do. She often treated it more like a four-wheeler than a wheel chair. Mrs. Sprague will be remembered as a kind and loving woman with a very generous and loving nature. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. Irma was predeceased by a son, Tony Libby and two brothers, James and Walter Wallingford. Surviving are three sons, Leroy Libby and his wife Betty of Shapleigh; Sidney Sprague III and his fiance, Chantal Margolis of Shapleigh and Edwin Sprague and his wife Robbin of Acton; three daughters, Princess Libby and her partner Guy Junkins of Porter; Robbin Irish and her partner Dan Court of Shapleigh and Jacqueline Becker and her partner Robert Marshall of Springvale; a brother, Hosea Wallingford of Springvale; two sisters, Romona Butler and her husband Everett of Cherryfield and Robbin Sprague and her husband Edwin of Acton and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.A graveside service will take place in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in South Waterboro.
