Irene A. Libby

Irene A. Libby, 91, of Sanford, died unexpectedly on January 7 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford.She was born in Sanford on October 28, 1914, a daughter of Gustave and Alice (Binette) Gagnon and attended the former St. Ignatius School.She was employed over the years with the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills, as a welder at the former South Portland Shipyard during World War II, as an inspector at Jagger Brothers Mill and retired from the former Tennford Weaving in Sanford in 1979.She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church in Sanford and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.Survivors include her husband, Albert Libby and 2 sons, Donald Libby and Ronald Libby, all of Sanford, 2 granddaughters, Andrea Libby, Jana Laird and a great grandson Jonah Laird, all of Dallas, Texas.Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery.Condolences may be expressed at the tab at left.
