Irene Jane Moore

PORTLAND – Irene Jane Moore, 87, passed away at Fallbrook Commons in Portland, Maine, on July 21, 2026, after battling a long illness. Born on Flag Day, June 14, 1939, in the heart of Portland to Earl and Leola (Duggan) Foote. Irene lived a life defined by grit, resilience, and an unwavering love for her family. She was the second of six children.

Above all else, Irene was a devoted mother of five children and the heart of her family. Though she endured many hardships throughout her life, she chose to make the most of every day. She found joy in making others laugh and loved reminiscing about her younger years, sharing stories that became treasured family memories, and of course, her morning coffee from Dunkin. Her strength, kindness, and infectious sense of humor will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

She is survived by four children: three daughters, Cathy Ferrante of Portland, Marilyn Ferrante of Portland, and Tammy Ferrante of Portland; one son, Michael Ferrante and his wife Mary of Freeport; five grandchildren, Jasmine Ferrante, Eric Nguyen, Marisol Cruz, Justin Blais, and Dustin Meserve; her youngest sister Jean Huggard; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Leola Foote; her two brothers, Earl “Buster” Foote Jr. and William “Billy” Foote; two sisters, Donna Stevenson and Jacqueline Sabatino; her husband, David J. “Bud” Moore; the father of her children, Wilfred E. Ferrante; her son, Jeffrey Scott Ferrante; and her granddaughter, Jodi Lynn McDermott.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Fallbrook Commons, and Affinity Care of Maine, for all their kindness and caring for Irene. A private family service and burial will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street in Portland.

Her legacy —as a mother, grandmother, and the Ferrante family’s brightest light and funniest voice — will live on forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know and laugh with her. We love you, Irene.
