Falmouth - Inez Velma (Hutchings) Thompson, 90, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Falmouth after a long illness. Inez was born on May 7, 1934, in Gardiner, daughter of the late Guy and Grace (Glidden) Hutchings.
Inez was an only child; as a young girl, her family moved away from Maine to western Massachusetts, but they always returned to her beloved home in Maine to visit. She finally settled back in Maine for good in 1985. Inez worked as a short order cook at Moody’s in Waldoboro for over 10 years and spent more than 20 years as a property manager at the Squire Tarbox Inn on Westport Island and the Admirals Quarters Inn in beautiful Boothbay Harbor.
Inez was a dedicated mother first and foremost, treasuring her eight children; seven by birth and one by adoption. She primarily raised her children as a single parent and found immense joy in her role as Nanny to her 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Inez had a deep love for angels and gardening, she cherished spending her later years with her loving partner, Wesley Coates.
Inez is predeceased by her children, Howard Burbank, Cheryl Crockett, and Colleen Savage; grandsons, Christopher Flanders and Ricky LeMere; cousin, George Hutchings and many extended family members. She is survived by her children, Juanita LeMere, Darlene and her husband James Perry, Elwood Burbank, Pamela and her husband Timothy Loso, and Elvis Thompson; grandchildren, Eddie, Martina, Charles, Heath, Tyler, Alieha, Heather, Keith, Roni, and Ava.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sedgwood Commons and Affinity Hospice for their exceptional care of Inez.
A celebration of life for Inez will be held at 2pm on July 27, 2024 at Cider Hill Clubhouse, 2 Cider Hill Road, Old Orchard Beach.
Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State St. Portland.
