Inez G. McCann

Inez Gordon McCann, 101, a longtime resident of Springvale, died July 24 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a brief illness.She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on October 13, 1910, the daughter of Albert F. and Annie (Parker) Gordon. She attended schools in Canada and graduated from the nurses training program at Children's Hospital in Halifax in 1933.Mrs. McCann came to this country in 1938 and worked at the New England Medical Center in Boston. She served as a nurse in the US Army during World War II.She came to Sanford in 1953 where she married Norman E. McCann. She worked at the H. D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford and served as the Sanford Town Nurse for several years, retiring in 1973.She was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford.Mrs. McCann was predeceased by her husband in 1986, 2 brothers, A. P. Gordon, Dr. James Gordon, and a sister Mae Margeson.Survivors include a nephew, James Gordon of Chamcook, New Brunswick, Canada and a niece Cynthia Gordon of Quebec.A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford with the Rev. Diane Wendorf officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.
