Howard Russell Fox

Howard R. Fox, 85, died September 29, 2004 at Goodall Hospital following a long illness. He was born January 28, 1919 in Sanford a son of Percy and Bertha (Harrison) Fox and graduated from Sanford High School. Mr. Fox joined the Army Air Corp during WW II and obtained the rank of Sergeant serving in Tunisia, Sicily and the Rome Arno Campaign. He was very proud of his service and shared his stories with many. Mr. Fox owned and operated a shoe store in town. Howard was a man that lived life with simple pleasures and by modest means. Independent and strong willed, he never forgot the many challenges and opportunities he enjoyed through out life. He was a generous man, one who gave to many different organizations that served children. He was a big supporter for the Edison School playground project. Mr. Fox gave scholarship money to several young people entering college. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile.At Mr. Fox's request, A Graveside Service was held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at Oakdale Cemetery.
