Henry R. Belrose, 93, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was born on March 13, 1928, to Henry and Amy (Martin) Belrose in Leaksville, NC. His family then moved to Chelsea, Maine where he grew up. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1945. He started out as a cook and advanced to Master Sergeant. He served during World War II and was awarded a Victory Medal. He retired from his service in the Air Force but continued to work at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma for over 20 more years. He was a proud veteran and served his country well. During his service, Henry was able to travel the world including Japan, France, and in Germany he met the lovely Edith Vielgrader. They married and have spent over 71 years together. Outside of work, Henry loved fishing, treasure hunting with his medal detector, collecting artifacts, gardening, wine making and canning. He also loved animals and raised squirrels, pigeons, had many dogs. Henry was great with kids, he raised his granddaughters, and great granddaughter and they are forever grateful. He was an amazing dad. He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter Dorothea Belrose, and his sister Rose Blair. Survivors include his wife Edith Belrose, granddaughter Ramona Pratt of Los Angeles, CA, granddaughter Rhonda Pratt and her husband Michael Aubin, of Cherokee, OK, great granddaughter Annallena Pratt of Epping, NH, niece Joyce St. Amand of Chelsea, ME, and nephew Heinz Vielgrader of Austria. A graveside service will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale at a date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Henry's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or The American Heart Association at www.heart.org. I don’t have to go any farther than to see the positive impact that he had on his family. And his impact on me came 25 years ago when he taught me what’s important in life. RIP friend.

  2. I had the distinct honor of living with Hank in my early 20s for over 2 years. We built a house, we fished, we hunted, worked on the stock market and broke bread at dinner every night! I am forever grateful for the job he did raising Rhonda and Lena.see you on the other side sir!
