Sanford - Helen "Holly" Parker, 77, of Springvale passed away peacefully on March 11, 2005. She was born December 14, 1927 to Archibald H. and Cora W. McCuin in Sawyerville, Quebec. She grew up in Danforth, Maine and graduated from Danforth High School as the valedictorian of the Class of 1945. In 1950 she received her BSN from the University of Maine Orono after affiliations at Boston Lying In Hospital and Children's Hospital. Upon graduation she taught Nursing Arts at Eastern Maine General Hospital.She married John R. Parker in Houlton, Maine on December 5, 1949. Together they lived in Bangor, Lincoln, Sebago Lake Village, Springvale and most recently in Kennebunk, Maine. After raising her family, Holly returned to the nursing profession as a staff nurse at Goodall Hospital. Upon retiring, Holly and John enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the United States and Canada. Holly also enjoyed knitting, the paintings of Andrew Wyeth, spending time with her family and days at the beach.She is survived by John, her husband of 55 years and their four children; Judy Lamb, husband Gary and their sons C.J. and Andrew of Springvale; J. Daniel Parker, wife Patty and their daughters Emily, Libby, and Anna of Cumberland; Janet Sawyer, husband Ansley and their sons Ben and Brad of Augusta; and James Parker, wife Kristen and their children Emily and David of Kennebunk. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Montgomery and her husband Dale of Colchester, Vermont.Visiting hours will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, March 14,2005 at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 11:00 am at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
