Helen Kaywork

Helen Kaywork, 82, of Acton, died April 4 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a lengthy illness.She was born in Scranton, PA on March 2, 1923, a daughter of James and Nellie (Shanley) Kelly. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Central High School in Scranton.During World War II, she served in the US Navy WAVES.She was employed for several years with the DuPont Company in Kearny, NJ, and after raising her family worked some in Sanford with Nike and with Elcon. She moved to Acton in 1976.She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, knitting and travelling. She was a member of the WAVES National.She attended Notre Dame Church in Springvale.She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Mumma in 2000, and by a brother, Joseph Kelly in 2003.Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles C. Kaywork of Acton, 2 sons, James C. Kaywork and Martin Kaywork, both of Kearny, NJ, a daughter, Lisa Fallo of Waterboro, a sister, Rose Kelly of No. Arlington, NJ, and 3 grandchildren, Ryan Kaywork, Glenn Mumma and Lauren Mumma.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM in Notre Dame Church in Springvale. Committal services will be at 1 :00 PM Friday at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta.
