Helen E. Drowns

Helen E. Drowns, 94, of Sanford, died May 17 at the Newton Center in Sanford after a lengthy illness.She was born in Sanford on April 6, 1917, the daughter of Walter T. and Susie (Ham) Grondin and attended Sanford schools.She was employed for several years in local shoe shops and then for several years co-managed the Mountain View Infirmary with her husband. For over 30 years they owned and operated an antique shop at their home on Route 109.Her husband Verson L. Drowns, died in 1985.Survivors include a great niece Faith Pelletier of Limerick, great nephew Wayne Grondin and his wife Pam of Alfred, great niece Laurie-Ann Carlin and her husband Mike of Shapleigh, friend Barbara Grondin of Sanford, and several great grand nieces and nephews.Services will be private with burial to be in Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.
