Helen "Nana" Contois, 84, well known resident of Ricker Lane, So. Waterboro, died peacefully with her family by her side, December 6, 2004 at the Newton Center in Sanford.She was born in Shapleigh, one of 10 children born to George and Daisy Isabelle (Gilpatrick) Swinerton and attended local schools. She went to work early in life at Universal Shoe Shop and retired from Limerick Shoe in 1980. She was a shoe repairer and had lifelong friendships with her fellow workers. Mrs. Contois learned how to cook a variety of meals and was well known for her famous pork pies. She loved having the kids home and as the grandchildren and great grandchildren came along, another plate was set at the table. She and her sister, Betty would go out for a day trip and hit all the yard sales along the way. A gracious and warm person, she will be sorely missed. Family members include 4 children, Dean Farwell and his wife Marlene, of Hollis, Donna Tebbetts and her husband Paul, Thomas Contois, and his wife, Sharon, all of Waterboro and Sally Morin, and her husband Gene, of Springvale, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. She is also survived by, two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Webber of Venice, Fl and Mabel Wallent of Sanford; and one brother, Berkley E. Swinerton of Hudson, NH. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert N. Contois in 1966; and by 6 sisters, Catherine "Kitty" Smith, Gloria Daney, Esther Jolin, Myrtle White, Betty Pierce and Thelma Aucoin. She is also predeceased by a grandson, Guy Patrick Morin.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the No. Waterboro Community Baptist Church at Noon with Rev. Timothy Hutchins, officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 11:00 am until the hour of service. Burial will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, So. Waterboro.
