Hazel G. Maynard

Hazel G. Maynard, 94, of Sanford died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford following a brief illness.Mrs. Maynard was born November 5, 1909 in Springvale to the late Harry and Annie (Kenney) Griffin. Hazel spent twelve years working for the Universal Shoe Company in Sanford. She will be remembered as a "Feisty" woman with a deep love for her family. Mrs. Maynard enjoyed spending much of her time at home, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and taking time to be with her family. Upon the death of her husband, Roland, Hazel moved to live with her son William. She was able to spend many quality years helping to raise her four grandchildren and helping to take care of the household.Mrs. Maynard was predeceased by her husband, Roland J. Maynard in 1979; and by six siblings, Mildred, Jessie, Elmer, Mary, John, and Virgil.Surviving are her son, William J. Maynard, of Sanford. One Grand Daughter, Jaime Maynard, of Sanford, and three grandsons, William R. Maynard, of Dover, Tim Maynard, of Sanford, and Bryan Maynard, who is stationed with the 4th Infantry Division in Tikirit, Iraq.On Friday, Feb. 20th a period of visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, in Springvale. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Sanford. Guests are invited to join the family for a reception following the funeral at the Heald Family Center, 574 Main Street in Springvale, located next door to the funeral home.
