SanfordHazel M. Furbish, 89, of Sanford, ME died Friday evening March 1, 2002 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. Furbish was born July 5, 1912 in Presque Isle, ME. She was the daughter of the late John and Rebecca McDuff King. At a young age she moved to the Waterboro area and attended schools there.For many years Mrs. Furbish worked at the Jagger Brother Mills in Sanford and retired from there.She enjoyed doing craft work at her home, riding motorcycles and had a great love for gardening. People in the Sanford area will most remember her for the beautiful gladiolas that grew and sold at her roadside stand. She also enjoyed her vegetable garden and along with her husband, the late Raymond Furbish, she helped found the Black Bear Go-cart Track.Predeceasing Hazel was her husband in 1973.Survivors include a brother Kenneth King of Florida; three nephews, Clayton (Joyce) King of Farmington, Kenneth (Debbie) King of Arundel, Forrest (Jeanne) King of Scarborough; four nieces, Barbara (Thomas) Hall of Old Orchard Beach, Donna (Robert) Cofer of Florida, Darlene Frazier of Biddeford, and Betty Johnson of S. Portland.A Period of visitation will be held on Sunday March 3, 2002 from 6 to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale; where funeral services will be held on Monday the 4th at 11:00 AM.
