Harriet May Wilson, 98 years old, of Sanford, ME died Saturday November 1, 2003 at the Newton Center in Sanford.Mrs. Wilson was born on May 5, 1905 in Leominster, MA. She was the daughter of Horace and Bertha Bassett Lawrence. She was a graduate of Leominster, H.S. and was raised there as a child.Harriet was a hard worker, and dedicated mother. She raised her children on the family farm in Barnstead, NH without the luxury of running water, sewer, and electricity. To make ends meet she worked as a telephone operator, in local shoe shops, and later on as a caretaker at the former Nason College.Mrs. Wilson was a social butterfly. She enjoyed the company of others, playing cards, and dancing away an evening. She also enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Springvale First Baptist Church, and the Blue Triangle.Predeceasing her is her husband Alfred K. Wilson, and their daughter Ruth Tebbetts.Surviving are three daughters; Doris Gordon of Farmington, NH, Beatrice knight of Strafford, NH, Alice LaBrecque of Barnstead, NH; two sons; Fred Pitman of Farmington, NH, Arthur Pitman of Franklin, NC, and a son-in-law Henry Tebbetts. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, and several great, and great great-grandchildren.A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, ME; where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday the 5th.For those that desire memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Rd., S.
