Harold W. Young

Harold W. Young, 76, resident of Sanford, died peacefully at home with his loving wife Pat of 30 years and his dog, Paddy. He was born in Barre, Vermont August 18, 1928 a son of Della Muzzy and soon after graduation enlisted in the Unites States Air Force, retiring following 20 years of service with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served during the Korean Conflict. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Young worked for 12 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop 64 as a shipwright.Mr. Young belonged to the AmVets Post 0003 in Sanford and the United Brotherhood Carpenters and Joiners Local 3073. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking day trips around the coast. Survivors include his wife of 30 loving years of marriage, Patricia (Griffith) Young of Sanford; two sons, Gary Young and his partner, Debbie Adams of Massachusetts; Terry Young and his wife, Patty of Texas and one daughter, Sherry Zolnosky and her husband, Gary of Wyoming; and two step-children who he helped raise, John Dazelle of Wyoming and Jane Hebert and her husband, John of Hollis, Maine 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and his beloved dog, "Paddy."At Mr. Young's request, there will be no visiting hours or service.Should family and friends desire, contributions may be made to the Wentworth Homecare and Hospice, 113 New Rochester Road - Suite 4, Dover, NH 03820 or to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc. 1 Main St. - Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
