Glenn M. Bean, Sr., 78, of Main Street, Waterboro, died Tuesday June 17, 2003 at Southern Maine Medical Center.He was born June 20, 1924, in Waterboro, a son of Merton and Hannah Ramsdell Bean.Mr. Bean attended Waterboro schools and served in the Army during World War IIHe owned his own logging company for many years, and in 1961, had started his own excavation company and ran it until the day he died.He was a life member of the Waterboro Fire Department, had served as Assistant Chief for many years, and had been a member of the volunteer fire department since 1948. Mr. Bean also served as trustee of Pine Grove Cemetery for several years.He was life member of the American Legion Post 177, serving as Commander from 1959-1961. He served as Road Commissioner for the Town of Waterboro from 1981-1986 and 1993-1995. He volunteered many hours with the Massabesic Lions Club.Through the years, he enjoyed taking his wife along on truck runs.Mr. Bean's family shares that he was a man who" enjoyed life to its fullest!"His wife, Rose Gregoire Bean who died on April 27, 2000 and a sister, Norma Harvey, predeceased Mr. Bean.He is survived by two sons, Glen Bean, Jr. of E. Waterboro and Mark Bean of So. Waterboro; two daughters, Sandy Bernier of Sanford and Bonnie Ann Reed of W. Newfield; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Richardson and Janet Gray of Limerick.A 2 PM memorial service will be held on Sunday June 22nd, at the Heald Funeral Home, Springvale, ME.
