Gisele A. Scheiba, 70, of Sanford, died on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Gisele was born in Granby, Quebec on April 3, 1940 to Rosario and Simone Beauregard. She and her family moved to Central Falls, Rhode Island in 1952 where she attended local schools, graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1957. On August 1, 1960 Gisele married H. Bruno Scheiba who was serving in the U.S. Army. During his military career they lived in many different places. When Mr. Scheiba retired in the 1970's the couple fulfilled a lifelong dream and purchased a chicken farm on High Street in Sanford where Gisele raised her family. She was employed for many years at the House of Pizza in Sanford as a waitress and manager.Gisele was a devoted mother and grandmother. She spent the majority of her time tending to the needs of her children and grandchildren. She got a lot of joy from cooking family meals, babysitting and attending her grandchildren's dance recitals and school events. She was a life member of the V.F.W. and served as the V.F.W. Maine State President from 1986-1987. She was also a past regent of the Daughters of Isabella. Gisele loved butterflies and had a large butterfly collection. She also enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. For the past few years she had been a fixture at the Newton Center in Sanford, warmly greeting anybody she saw coming into the building. She enjoyed doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing bingo and card games. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish. In the past she had served as a Eucharistic minister and lector at church. Gisele enjoyed life to the fullest and was always the life of the party. She was a very outgoing and fun-loving woman with a contagious laugh, making friends easily wherever she went. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.Gisele was predeceased by her parents and by a son, David Michael Scheiba.Surviving are five daughters, Monica Cloutier and her husband Robert of Sanford, Marina Cormier and her husband Joseph of Lebanon, Melanie Aceto of Texas, Michelle Franks and her husband Keith of Vancleave, Mississippi and Marlena Russell and her husband Ivan of East Waterboro; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Louise Christopher and her husband Mel of Springvale and Jacqueline Lainhart of Cumberland, RI; two brothers, Denny Beauregard of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina and Rene Beauregard and his wife Tulri of Land 'O Lakes, Florida and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 10th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gisele's name may be sent to the Newton Center Activities Fund, 35 July Street, Sanford, Maine 04073To leave a message of sympathy for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
