Gilbert V. Webber, age 75, of Arundel, Maine passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 13, 2024. Gilly was born in Saco, Maine on June 17, 1949 to Thelma Swinerton Webber and Fred Gilbert Webber. He grew up in Shapleigh, Maine on the Webber Farm until the death of his Father in 1959.His Mom then moved with her two children to Presque Isle and married Paul Aucoin. Gilbert attended schools in Presque Isle and joined the U.S. Marines at age 17, specializing in jet mechanics. After his discharge from the Marines, he remained in North Carolina and began to raise his family with his wife, Mary. In the 1990s, Gilly returned to his home state of Maine raising his twin daughters. In Maine, Gilly worked as a security guard at Brighton Medical Center where he met and then married Rosie, the love of his life. He was also self-employed, selling food at Maine's Agricultural Fairs. His specialties included onion rings, steak and cheese, fried bologna sandwiches, hot dogs and kielbasa wrapped in bacon. He also gained popularity with his Shave Ice Stand, importing a large variety of flavors from Hawaii. Family was first and foremost in Gilly's life, whether blood relatives, his dog Tillie and cat Harley, or his "Fair Family." All who knew him often said: "How could anyone not love this man!" Gilly was a member of the Masons, Arion Lodge #162 in Lyman, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Rosie. He is survived by his sister Pam Webber and her husband Bob Heap of Kennebunk, his sister Maureen Elwell and her husband David Elwell of Wells, and his brother Steve Aucoin and wife Kathy Aucoin of Litchfield. Survivors also include his son Paul Webber and fiancée Colleen Froming of New Bern, North Carolina; daughter Lisa Webber of Dover, New Hampshire; his twin daughters, Daisy Webber and her partner Josh Hammer of Dover, New Hampshire, and Dawn Johnson and her husband Scott Johnson of Alfred, Maine; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 25th at 2 pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Acton, Maine.

  4. It was always a pleasure when Gil came into my sign shop, I would look forward to his yearly visit at the start of fair season, i would see him coming in and think, What new idea would he have this year! He was a great guy, I will miss him,
