Georgianna Cass, 93, of Sanford, died on Friday, April 4, 2008 at H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Georgianna was born in Lebanon, Maine on September 15, 1914 to Alexander and Minnie Bumford St.Cyr. Her family moved to Sanford in 1916 to a farmhouse located where Goodall Hospital now stands. In 1933, She married Elmer Cass and the couple moved to Lebanon Street where they raised their family.Mrs. Cass was a very hard working woman. She was employed as a housekeeper for several different families in Sanford. She worked for the Russell Family for over 50 years, keeping the house and helping out with the family. She was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church for over 55 years and a past member of the Lebanon Grange. Georgianna like to keep herself busy. In her spare time she enjoyed doing plastic canvas stitching and word puzzle books. She was very caring person who always went out of her way to help people who needed it. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Georgianna was predeceased by two daughters, Jean Salzman and Janice Sloger, three brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.Surviving are two daughters, Norma Girard of Rochester, NH and Christine de la Roche and her husband Arthur of Camden, NY; 15 grandchildren and approximately 30 great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at a date to be announced at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon.The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Greenwood Center and Goodall Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Georgianna.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to North Parish Congregational Church, 893 Main Street, Sanford, Maine 04073.Arrangements are under the direction of Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home in Sanford.
