George N. Wyman, 76, of Alfred, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by his family.George was born in Biddeford on December 15, 1934 to Roland and Hazel (Provencal) Wyman where he grew up and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Liddle. He was the last known survivor to serve on this ship during the Korean Conflict. After completing his enlistment, George worked as a supervisor for several companies before opening a window washing company which he owned and operated for many years.George was a devout Christian and an active member of the Christian Biblical Church of God where he had many friends. His interests included family, church, gardening and sports. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. George was a dedicated family man, devoting his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley (Maksut) Wyman of Alfred; two children, Barbara E. Wyman of Alfred and Robert J. Wyman Sr. and his wife Brenda of Alfred; four grandchildren, Robert J. Wyman Jr. of Saco, Bobbie L. Wyman of Springvale, Gage P. Lebeuf of Alfred and Billy Z. Wyman of Alfred; a brother-in-law, Raymond Maksut of Saco and the Campbell family of Saco.George's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Wight Jr. of Maine Cardiology, Carrie Girard of Home Visiting Nurses and the staff of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the care and compassion shown to George during his illness.A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 14th at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans' Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
