  7. I worked with George, Wayne True, Pat Corbett, and Brad (Neil) Martin on Engine 8, (Ladder 4) when one of those guys were on vacation. I recall going to quite a few structure fires with George and that crew and always nipping the problems quickly because of of their professional attitudes and fire fighting skills. He was a very good firefighter. My condolences to his family.

  8. The guy was so humble he wouldnt take a pat on the back many people dont know it but he liked to be called skip because he felt like he had “big shoes to fill”. he always said how his father and grandfather were very hard workers, his love for everyone was genuine and always felt . he taught the true meaning of integrity and much more just with just his presence may his name live on and his soul be at rest god bless 🙏

  9. Our deepest sympathies to Skipper’s family . He was a good friend and worked with him in the Portland Fire Department . RIP … George and Katie Earley

  11. I just heard about Skipper’s death. I was very sad to hear this news.
I lived across the street from the Wards’ from third grade until Skipper and I both married. To say he was like a brother to me is an understatement!! He even took me to a formal after an untimely break up. !!!! He would periodically call me in the midst of a Portland blizzard to help him deliver newspapers!!! So fun!!!🥴 I dragged his sorry ass home after many a skating injury, he would get stitches and my mother would remove them!!!
He spent the entire evening with me the night my mom unexpectedly passed away.
We lost touch over the years but I always loved him!!! Rest in Peace ❤️
